New Years Eve Makeup

Happy New Year's Eve! My plans for this evening are fairly laid back - Pyjamas, Peppermint Tea and a watch of The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. I did however dress up for the occasion earlier today - because I'll take any excuse to play with makeup.

Following on from my Best in Beauty 2015 - Skin there are a few bits I wanted to mention that didn't quite fit into either skincare or makeup (coming soon!). These are the extra bits I've been loving all year that I don't put on my face.

I've had it pretty good with my skin this year and I think that may be partially as I have been sticking to a routine of tried and tested products which has helped me keep track of my skin. I've also been concentrating on sun protection and have been constantly on the look out for comfortable creams offering broad spectrum protection. Makeup Inspiration: The Force Awakens - Rey

The seventh instalment in the Star Wars franchise is finally out and as a huge Star Wars fan I'm excited about it to say the least. I've been twice since it was released less than a week ago!

When I take a trip to the cinema, I personally love to take a little inspiration from whatever I'm seeing. In the case of The Force Awakens, I threw on a Star Wars t-shirt and put my hair up in Rey's tipple bun style (great tutorial here) and opted for a very 'no makeup-makeup' look.

Best budget face brushes

I use a lot of make up brushes - like a lot. Surely more than anybody needs for one relatively small face. However, every time I do a deep clean I'm surprised at just how many brushes I've managed to get dirty. That's proof though that I do actually use the large amount of brushes that I own. Above are my favourites and the ones that I use pretty much every time I apply make up.

Healthy Warming Winter Vegetable Soup

There's nothing nicer than cosying up with some homemade soup on a cold winters day. I was surprised to find how easy it is to make your own and it's far better than anything you'll find in a can. This is a super easy recipe for a healthy root vegetable soup, it takes a handful of carrots and parsnips, a little preparation, and next to no skill.

Ready your body for Christmas!

At this time of year, nothing helps induce the Christmas spirit in me more than festive scents. Spiced apples, oranges and cinnamon immediately evoke a sense of festivity and bring back holiday memories. Candles are the obvious way to bring a little Christmas spice into your life but I’m currently getting my cinnamon fix in the shower – thanks to Korres.

Let’s be honest here, is there anybody still out there who actually needs another neutral palette? Probably not, but that doesn’t stop anybody coveting more beautiful brown, copper and gold tones. My newest purchase is this year’s Soap and Glory The Perfect Ten eye shadow palette – and it’s golden (excuse the pun).

Delicious Christmas Reindeer Brownies

Brownies are one of my signature recipes, and if I do say so myself, I have the recipe down to a T. Of course I bake them the way I like them, with a crispy crust and seriously gooey, wonderfully chocolaty insides. If you prefer your brownies to be cakey then look elsewhere! When I saw a picture of reindeer brownies floating around the internet I knew I wanted to recreate them.

With Christmas drawing closer and only two and a half weekends left before the big day, it's time to get serious about Christmas shopping - if you haven't already. I've actually done almost all of mine already and for the last two years I've done so with the help of an excel spreadsheet. I realise that not everybody wants/needs to organise their Christmas shopping with the help of a spreadsheet, but that's the kind of person I am.
